Gene Information

human ... TTC8(123016)

General description

Also known as tetratricopeptide repeat protein 8, TTC8 is a BBSome complex that is required for ciliogenesis. It is known to associate with the Rab8 GDP/GTP exchange factor, which is localized in the basal body. Rab8(GTP) is produced and enters the primary cilium, where it promotes ciliary membrane biogenesis. Mutations in TTC8 have been identified in Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS), a genetic disorder which is characterized with obesity, retinal degeneration, and nephropathy.

Specificity

Other homologies: Rat (53% sequence homology).
This antibody recognizes the TPR1 domain of TTC8.

Immunogen

Epitope: TPR1 domain
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the TPR1 domain of human TTC8.

Application

Anti-TTC8 detects levels of TTC8 proteins & has been published & validated for use in WB & IHC.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:2,000 dilution from a representative lot detected TTC8 in human prostate cancer and mouse eye tissues.
