General description

Called the “master gland” because it controls many other endocrine glands, the pituitary gland secretes key hormones that play important roles in the regulation of metabolism, growth, and reproduction. The Canine Pituitary Expanded Panel thus enables you to focus on the therapeutic potential of reproduction, growth, metabolic homeostasis, and pituitary related diseases such as acromegaly, growth hormone deficiency, diabetes insipidus and pituitary tumors.

MILLIPLEX® Canine Pituitary Expanded Panel is a 6-plex kit to be used for the quantification of any or all of the following analytes: Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH), Growth Hormone (GH), Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Prolactin, and Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH). This kit may be used for the analysis of pituitary hormones in canine serum or plasma, canine tissue extract, or cell/tissue supernatant samples. This kit uses a 96-well format, contains a lyophilized standard cocktail, two internal assay quality controls and can measure up to 38 samples in duplicate.

The Luminex® xMAP® platform uses a magnetic bead immunoassay format for ideal speed and sensitivity to quantitate multiple analytes simultaneously, dramatically improving productivity while conserving valuable sample volume.

Panel Type: Endocrine

Specificity

Cross Reactivty
There was no or negligible cross-reactivity between the antibodies for an analyte and any of the other analytes in this panel except for canine LH having ~5% cross-reactivity with the TSH antibody pair.

Application

  • Analytes: Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH), Growth Hormone (GH), Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Prolactin, and Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
  • Recommended Sample Type: Canine serum or plasma, canine tissue extract, or cell/tissue supernatants
  • Recommended Sample Dilution: 25 μL per well of undiluted serum or plasma
  • Assay Run Time: Overnight (16-18 hours) at 2-8°C
  • Research Category: Endocrine
