General description

Ghrelin is a 28 amino acids peptide with an essential n-octonayl modification at Serine 3. This peptide hormone is known as an endogenous ligand for the growth hormone secretagogue receptor and shares sequence similarity with the peptide hormone Motilin. Ghrelin displays pleotropic actions including growth hormone secretion, feeding behaviour and gastrointestinal motility. It is predominantly produced by enteroendocrine cells from the gastrointestinal tract, but has been shown to play a significant role in neurotrophy, particularly in the hippocampus, and appears to be essential for cognitive adaptation to changing environments and the process of learning.

Specificity

This antibody recognizes Ghrelin at the N-terminus.

Immunogen

Linear Peptide corresponding to the N-terminus of human Ghrelin.

Application

Detect Ghrelin using this Anti-Ghrelin Antibody, clone 1ML-1D7 validated for use in WB & IC.
Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:500 dilution from a previous lot detected Ghrelin in A431 cells.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blot in mouse stomach tissue lysate.

Western Blot Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected Ghrelin in 10 µg of mouse stomach tissue lysate.
