General description
DPPA-2 (developmental pluripotency associated-2) is a novel Oct-4-related protein that is localized to the nucleus of mouse fetal germ cells. DPPA-2 has binding sites for both POU and Sox-2 protein domains and is expressed primarily in the developing germ line following gastrulation. These associations suggest that this protein participates in a very strong supportive role in maintaining cell pluripotentiality. In addition to its role as a pluripotency marker, more recent research using cancer cells suggests that DPPA-2 may also act as an embryo-cancer antigen—pointing to the presence of abnormal cell growth and the formation of cancerous cells.

Zygotic genome activation (ZGA) represents the initiation of transcription following fertilisation. Despite its importance, we know little of the molecular events that initiate mammalian ZGA in vivo. Recent in vitro studies in mouse embryonic stem cells have revealed developmental pluripotency

The molecular regulation of zygotic genome activation (ZGA) in mammals remains an exciting area of research. Primed mouse embryonic stem cells contain a rare subset of "2C-like" cells that are epigenetically and transcriptionally similar to the two-cell embryo and thus

Zygotic genome activation (ZGA) is an essential transcriptional event in embryonic development that coincides with extensive epigenetic reprogramming. Complex manipulation techniques and maternal stores of proteins preclude large-scale functional screens for ZGA regulators within early embryos. Here, we combined pooled
