Application

Anti-GFP, clone 2B6, Cat. No. MABC1689, is a mouse monoclonal antibody that detects GFP-conjugated to most proteins and has been tested for use in Immunocytochemistry and Western Blotting.
Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution from a representative lot detected GFP in HEK293T cells stabely transfected with GFP-tagged Aquaporin 4.
Western Blotting Immunocytochemistry

Biochem/physiol Actions

Clone 2B6 is a mouse monoclonal antibody that detects GFP-conjugated to most proteins.

Features and Benefits

His-tagged recombinant jellyfish Green fluorescent protein.

Preparation Note

Stable for 1 year at 2-8°C from date of receipt.

Analysis Note

Purified mouse monoclonal antibody IgG1 in buffer containing 0.1 M Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 150 mM NaCl with 0.05% sodium azide.

Other Notes

Evaluated by Western Blotting in lysates from HeLa cells transfected with GFP.

Western Blotting Analysis: 1 µg/mL of this antibody detected GFP in lysates from HeLa cells transfected with GFP.
Green fluorescent protein (UniProt: P42212) is encoded by the GFP gene in Aequorea victoria (Jellyfish). Green fluorescence protein (GFP) is a 27 kDa protein from jellyfish that serves as an energy-transfer acceptor. It transduces the blue chemiluminescence of the protein aequorin into green fluorescent light by energy transfer and it fluoresces in vivo upon receiving energy from the Ca2+-activated photoprotein aequorin. GFP has an absorption max at 395 nm and the emission peaks at 507 to 510 nm. However, the exact value of emission max depends on the environment of the chromophore. GFP is an important tool in cell biology research that displays stability under fixation conditions and is suitable for a variety of applications, such as tracing cell lineage tracer, reporter of gene expression, or exploring protein-protein interactions.
