Gene Information
human ... RUNX1(861)
General description
Runt-related transcription factor 1 (RUNX1), also known as Acute myeloid leukemia 1 protein, Core-binding factor subunit alpha-2 (CBF-alpha2), Oncogene AML-1, Polyomavirus enhancer-binding protein 2 alpha B subunit (PEA2-alpha B/PEBP2-alpha B), SL3-3 enhancer factor 1 alpha B subunit, and SL3/AKV core-binding factor alpha B subunit is encoded by the human gene named RUNX1/AML1, CBFA2. RUNX1 is a transcription factor that binds to a wide variety of promoters and enhancers belonging to many types of genes from T cell receptor genes to LCK, IL-3 and GM-CSF. Its major normal role is in the development of blood cells and hematopoiesis. It is expressed in most tissues except in normal brain and heart. Levels are highest in the bone marrow, thymus and peripheral lymphocytes. Defects and or translocations involving RUNX1 are the cause for myeloid leukemias as well as lymphoblastic leukemia. Mutations in RUNX1 function are also linked with many breast cancers. Finally, mutations in RUNX1 have recently been shown to be the cause of cancers in epithelial tissues and linked to squamous cell carcinomas. EMD-Millipore’s Anti-RUNX1 mouse monoclonal antibody has been tested in western blot on Jurkat cell lysates and in ELISA using recombinant RUNX1 protein.

Quality
Evaluated by Western Blotting in Jurkat cell lysate.
Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:500-2,000 dilution of this antibody detected RUNX1 in Jurkat cell lysate.
Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user.
