Gene Information
human ... KLK7(5650)
General description
27.53 kDa calculated.
Kallikrein-7 (UniProt: P49862; also known as hK7, Serine protease 6, Stratum corneum chymotryptic enzyme, hSCCE) is encoded by the KLK7 (also known as PRSS6, SCCE) gene (Gene ID: 5650) in human. KLK7 is a member of the 15-member kallikrein subfamily of serine proteases. Human KLK7 displays 40 60% amino acid homology with other members of the family. Members of this family are involved in diverse physiological functions and serve as biomarkers for cancer. Increased expression of KLK7 is associated with unfavorable prognosis and progression of ovarian cancer. Less differentiated tumors of more advanced stage show higher level KLK7 expression. KLK7 has chymotrypsin-like activity and cleaves proteins with aromatic side chains in the P1 position. Its activity is inhibited by Zn2+ and Cu2+. KLK7 catalyzes the degradation of intercellular cohesive structures in the cornified layer of the skin in the continuous shedding of cells from the skin surface. It is also reported to play a role in the activation of precursors to inflammatory cytokines.
Immunogen
A full length recombinant human pro-Kallikrein 7.
Application
Detect KLK7 using this mouse monoclonal Anti-Kallikrein 7/KLK7 Antibody, clone 73-1, Cat. No. MABC967. It was used in ELISA and Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin).
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:250 dilution from a representative lot detected Kallikrein 7/KLK7 in human kidney tissue and human bone marrow.
ELISA Analysis: A representative lot detected Kallikrein 7/KLK7 in ELISA applications (Shan, S.J., et. al. (2006). Clin Chem. 52(10):1879-86; Kishi, T., et. al. (2004). Clin Chem. 50(4):709-16).
