Specificity

Clone 17C11 is a rat monoclonal antibody that specifically detects MALT1 protein. It targets an epitope within 380 amino acids from the internal region of the protein.

Immunogen

His-tagged recombinant fragment corresponding to 380 amino acids from the internal region of human MALT1 protein.

Application

Quality Control Testing

Evaluated by Western Blotting in lysates from Jurkat cells and Jurkat cells with MALT1 Knock out. lysates.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:500 dilution of this antibody detected MALT1 in Jurkat cell lysate, but not in lysates from cells with MALT1 knockout.

Tested Applications

Immunoprecipitation Analysis: A representative lot immunoprecipitated MALT1 in Immunoprecipitation application (Kutzner, K., et al. (2022). Sci Signal. 15(723):eabk3083).

Western Blotting Analysis: A representative lot detected MALT1 in Western Blotting application (Kutzner, K., et al. (2022). Sci Signal. 15(723):eabk3083).

Note: Actual optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user as specimens, and experimental conditions may vary with the end user.

Target description

Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma translocation protein 1 (Uniprot: Q9UDY8; also known as MALT lymphoma-associated translocation) is encoded by MALT1 (MLT) gene (Gene ID:10892 ) in human. MALT1 protein shuttles between the nucleus and cytoplasm and also found in perinuclear structures. It is highly expressed in peripheral blood mononuclear cells and detected at lower levels in bone marrow, thymus and lymph node, and at very low levels in colon and lung. MALT1 is a key regulator of various cellular signaling pathways and is primarily associated with immune response and inflammation. Bcl10 and MALT1 (paracaspase) forms a strong and specific complex within the cell and these proteins synergize in the activation of NF-kappaB pathway, which is involved in the regulation of genes related to immune and inflammatory responses. MALT1 is also implicated in the pathogenesis of certain lymphomas and autoimmune diseases, making it a potential target for therapeutic interventions. Its proteolytic activity and interactions with other proteins contribute to its multifaceted functions in cellular signaling and disease processes. (Ref.: Kutzner, K., et al. (2022).
