General description

Overview of Samplicity G2 System
• Samplicity G2 Filtration System enables vacuum driven filtration of up to 8 samples at once, directly into HPLC vials.
• Filtration for HPLC sample prep without syringes. Sample is added to an adapter funnel on a standard Millex 33 mm filter (Millex Filters for the Samplicity G2 System) or an integrated funnel and filter (Millex Samplicity filter)
• Samplicity G2 System has lower ergonomic impact than manual syringe filtration

Applications:
HPLC; Filtration of viscous or particulate laden samples for HPLC

Because of its high sensitivity and extreme versatility, mass spectrometry has become a popular technique for identifying and quantifying molecules within complex mixtures, in diverse research areas that range from systems biology and proteomics to environmental analysis. Successful mass spectrometry requires extremely areful sample preparation, in order to avoid complexity of the mixtures being analyzed. EMD Millipore supports researchers using mass spectrometry with tools or multiple steps of the workflow, including purification, clarification, and analysis.

"Liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) are being increasingly used in analysis of samples, not only in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, but also more generally in the analysis, identification and quantitation of complex samples containing low levels of analytes. The advantages of LC-MS or GC-MS over other analytical techniques include high sensitivityand specificity for analyte detection and quantitation."

The Samplicity® filtration system was developed to filter up to 8 samples directly into standard HPLC vials using vacuum-based filtration. The samples can then be used in downstream HPLC analysis. Given the high sensitivity of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography (UHPLC) analyses, it is critical to ensure that the filtered sample is not contaminated with extractables. This application note reports the results of tests for extractables from Millex Samplicity® LCR (0.45 μm hydrophilic PTFE) and LG (0.20 μm hydrophilic PTFE) filters using three commonly used HPLC detectors. The detectors used were an ultraviolet/visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometer, a mass spectrometer and a fluorescence detector.
