General description

The LAMA-87 human chronic myeloid leukemia cell line is an erythroeosinophilic cell line derived from LAMA-84 (2). LAMA-87 cells are positive for the BCR-ABL gene translocation (3) and express erythrocytic markers such as glycophorin A, as well as the CD33 granulomonocytic marker CD33, which distinguishes CML from other leukemias (2). When inoculated into non-treated athymic mice, LAMA-87 cells can differentiate to give rise to eosinomonocytic cells (2).

Source:
The LAMA-87 cell line was derived from LAMA-84 human chronic myeloid leukemia cells inoculated into estrone-treated athymic mice (2). The parent LAMA-84 cell line was isolated from leukemia of a 29-year-old female patient (3).
