General description

Tetrahydrofuran (THF), is a colorless, volatile, heterocyclic saturated cyclic ether characterized by low viscosity and high solubility in various solvents. It is widely used as a polar aprotic, water-miscible organic solvent in various organic synthesis, particularly for reactions involving organometallic compounds and Grignard reagents. Additionally, THF plays an important role as a solvent in the synthesis of many API’s and in polymerization processes.

Application

Tetrahydrofuran is used as solvent
  • To prepare mobile phase in reversed-phase liquid chromatography
  • In the preparation of Spin-Coated Polymer Thin Films
  • In the synthesis of diacetylinic aryloxysilane polymers by polycondensation reaction
  • In the formation of grignard reagent which is used for organic sythesis
