Application

BME is suitable for reducing protein disulfide bonds prior to polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and is usually included in a sample buffer for SDS-PAGE at a concentration of 5%. Cleaving intermolecular (between subunits) disulfide bonds allows the subunits of a protein to separate independently on SDS-PAGE. Cleaving intramolecular (within subunit) disulfide bonds allows the subunits to become completely denatured so that each peptide migrates according to its chain length with no influence due to secondary structure.

Radiotherapy (RT) is routinely used in cancer treatment, but expansion of its clinical indications remains challenging. The mechanism underlying the radiation-induced bystander effect (RIBE) is not understood and not therapeutically exploited. We suggest that the RIBE is predominantly mediated by

SQSTM1/p62 (sequestosome 1) is a critical macroautophagy/autophagy receptor that promotes the formation and degradation of ubiquitinated aggregates. SQSTM1 can be modified by ubiquitination, and this modification modulates its autophagic activity. However, the molecular mechanisms underpinning its reversible deubiquitination have never
