General description
Basic fuchsin is a triaminotriphenylmethane dye that is widely used to stain muscle, mitochondria, and collagen. It is generally a mixture of pararosaniline (C.I. 42500), rosaniline (C.I. 42510), magenta II and new fuchsine (CI 42520).
Application
Basic fuchsin is utilized for various applications:
- Acid-fast staining
- Periodic Acid-Schiff
- Feulgen stain for DNA
- ENDO culture medium
- Leifson′s method for bacterial flagella
