General description

Casein Peptone Lecithin Polysorbate Broth is a specialized microbiologicalculture medium designed for environmental monitoring and microbial testing. Caseinenzymatic hydrolysate provides the necessary nutrients for the growth ofmicroorganisms. Soya lecithin neutralizes the quaternary ammonium compounds (asbenzalkonium chloride, denatonium, TBAH etc., often contained in surfacedisinfectants). Polysorbate (Tween^® 20) is added to disarm phenolicdisinfectants, hexachlorophene and formalin. This medium is particularlysuitable for applications requiring the neutralization of disinfectants and therecovery of stressed or injured microorganisms.

Application

Casein Peptone Lecithin Polysorbate Broth is suitable for the dilution of samples from pharmaceutical, cosmetic and raw material or end-products, for the purpose of enumeration or for sanitary examination of surfaces. It is widely used in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and environmental monitoring workflows. It is ideal for sterility testing, microbial recovery, and environmental monitoring in cleanrooms and controlled environments. The medium can be used for passive or active air sampling, surface testing, and other microbiological quality control procedures.

Preparation Note

Suspend 25 g in 960 ml distilled water. Heat in a water-bath at 50°C for approx. 30 minutes until completely dissolved. Add 40 ml polysorbate (TWEEN^® 20) and sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.
