General description

Bisoctrizole (UV 360) belongs to the class of benzotriazole UV stabilizers, commercially used in sunscreen formulations. Its mode of action involves a triple effect including UV absorption, light scattering and light reflection. The highly photostable nature of UV 360, makes it feasible to stabilize other organic filters such as avobenzene.

Application

Bisoctrizole may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in the following:
  • Packaging materials using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with a diode array detector (DAD).
  • Seawater samples using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry detection (UHPLC-MS/MS).
