General description

Decane is an alkane hydrocarbon. It exists as a colourless flammable liquid. It is mostly used as solvent. Its vapors may be narcotic at high concentrations.

Application

Decane may have been used as internal standard in GC analysis for determining the product yield during iron-catalyzed cross coupling performed of primary/secondary alkyl halides with aryl Grignard reagent.
Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.

Having trouble? Feel free to contact Technical Service for assistance.

Lot and Batch Numbers can be found on a product's label following the words 'Lot' or 'Batch'.

Aldrich Products

  • For a lot number such as TO09019TO, enter it as 09019TO (without the first two letters 'TO').

  • For a lot number with a filling-code such as 05427ES-021, enter it as 05427ES (without the filling-code '-021').

  • For a lot number with a filling-code such as STBB0728K9, enter it as STBB0728 without the filling-code 'K9'.

Aromatic hydrocarbons are among the most important building blocks in the chemical industry. Benzene, toluene and xylenes are obtained from the high temperature thermolysis of alkanes. Higher alkylaromatics are generally derived from arene-olefin coupling, which gives branched products--that is, secondary
