General description

Benzo[a]pyrene belongs to the family of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) compounds, which consist of two or more aromatic rings made up of only hydrogen and carbon elements.

Application

Benzo[a]pyrene may be used as a reference standard for the determination of the analyte in olive oil samples by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) as well as liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection techniques (LC-FLD), and in cereal-based foodstuffs, fish, meat and poultry by GC-MS.
