General description

Trichothecene mycotoxins are the largest group of toxins produced by moulds of genus Fusarium. Trichothecenes are divided into four types (A-D) according to their characteristic functional groups. The epidemiological surveys have revealed that A and B of trichothecenes are widely distributed in cereals and feed as natural pollutants. The most predominant type-B Trichothecenes are Deoxynivalenol (DON), nivalenol (NIV), 3-acetyldeoxynivalenol (3-AcDON) and 15- acetyldeoxynivalenol (15-AcDON).

Application

B-trichothecene mix may be used as reference standard in quantitative determination of type B trichothecenes using coupling liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS).
