Dinocap is a contact fungicide and a non-systemic acaricide. It is used to control powdery mildew in orchard fruit, pome fruit, stone fruit, citrus fruit, soft fruit, vines, cucurbits, ornamentals, tobacco, hops, and some vegetables. It is also applied to control mites (Panonycus, Tetranycus, and Aculus spp.) in fruit trees and vines.

Dinocap is not approved in the European Union. It was initially included in Directive 2006/136/EC with restrictions to crops and application rates. However, the inclusion expired on December 31, 2009.

Maximum residue levels (MRLs) have been set according to Reg (EC) No 1127/2014 for dinocap as a sum of dinocap isomers and their corresponding phenols expressed as dinocap for various products of plant and animal origin from 0.02 to 0.1 mg/kg.

Application

Dinocap may be used as reference material for the following:
  • Study the effects of fungicides mancozeb and dinocap on carbon and nitrogen mineralization in arable and grassland soil
  • Residue assessment of azoxystrobin, buprofezin, dinocap and hexaconazole on mango fruits by QuEChERS extraction and LC-MS/MS
  • Evaluate the effect of different planting dates and dinocap applications on control of powdery mildew and yields of early and late maturing coriander cultivars
  • Determination of dinocap mixture in water using GC/IR and GC/MS
  • Determination of four active ingredients of dinocap in crops by HPLC with a UV detector
