General description

Sodium tetraphenylborate is categorized under the tetraalkylborate group of compounds. Visit our Sensor Applications portal to learn more.

Application

Sodium tetraphenylborate (NaTPB) may be used as an anion discriminator in the poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) based membrane potentiometric sensor for the determination of copper in aqueous solutions. Its addition to membranes has been proven to be beneficial towards optimizing sensing selectivity and decreasing bulk membrane impedance which result in substantial improvement of Cu2+ -selective potentiometric sensor performance. NaTBP has also been investigated as a lipophilic additive in terbium(III) membrane electrode for its potential response towards terbium(III) ions. It may be used as an aqueous derivatization reagent for organomercury prior to its determination in environmental samples by gas chromatography (GC) combined with atomic fluorescence spectrometry (AFS), microwave-induced plasma atomic emission spectrometry (AES), and mass spectrometry (MS).

Packaging

Bottomless glass bottle. Contents are inside inserted fused cone.
