General description

Vibrio ChromoSelect Agar is a selective and differential culture medium designed for the isolation and chromogenic differentiation of Vibrio species, particularly from seafood samples. It is part of the NutriSelect® Plus range and is available in powdered form. The medium contains a chromogenic mixture that enables the differentiation of Vibrio species based on their enzymatic activity, resulting in distinct colony colors. The composition includes agar, chromogenic substrates, peptic digest of animal tissue, sodium chloride, sodium cholate, sodium citrate, and sodium thiosulfate.

Application

Vibrio ChromoSelect Agar is used for the isolation and chromogenic differentiation of Vibrio species, particularly from seafood samples, making it ideal for applications in environmental testing, food and beverage safety, and microbiological research.

Preparation Note

Suspend 67.5 g in 1000 ml distilled water. Heat to boiling to dissolve the medium completely. DO NOT AUTOCLAVE. Cool to 45-50°C, mix well and pour into sterile petri plates.

Other Notes

We offer two media types: the superior granulated GranuCult® and the cost-efficient powdered NutriSelect® culture media, depending on your needs.
The designations basic, plus, or prime are added to indicate the quality control level, from basic quality control to standard QC plus to prime for full regulatory compliance.
