General description

Melibiose is a disaccharide, composed of galactose and glucose with an α-1,6 glycoside linkage. It is reported to promote the absorption of quercetin glycosides in the ligated small intestinal loop of rats.

Application

D-(+)-Melibiose may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in soybean samples using normal-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with evaporative light scattering detection and in environmental samples by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) technique.
