General description

Candida Ident Agar is a modified selective and differential medium designed for the rapid isolation of yeasts from mixed cultures and the differentiation of various Candida species, including Candida albicans, Candida krusei, Candida tropicalis, and Candida glabrata, based on coloration and colony morphology. Results can be obtained within 48 hours, making it a valuable tool for the rapid and presumptive identification of common yeasts in Mycology and Clinical Microbiology laboratories. The medium contains peptic digest of animal tissue and yeast extract, which provide B-vitamins, organic nitrogen, carbon compounds, and other essential growth nutrients. Malt extract and glucose serve as carbon sources for fermentation, while chloramphenicol is included to suppress bacterial flora, ensuring optimal growth conditions for yeasts.

Application

Candida Ident Agar, Modified is designed for the selective isolation and identification of Candida species from clinical materials such as stool, urine, skin scurf, and swabs. It is widely used across various fields, including clinical testing for accurate diagnosis, food and beverage microbiological analysis for safety and quality, environmental monitoring for Candida detection, agriculture and veterinary research, and ensuring microbiological safety in cosmetics and personal care products.
