General description
Benfluorex hydrochloride salt is a hypolipidaemic compound with lipid and glucose lowering effects.
It is used in the treatment of impaired carbohydrate metabolism, atherogenic metabolic disorders and in the suppression of appetite.

Application
Benfluorex hydrochloride may be used as a reference standard for characterization of human urinary metabolites of benfluorex by gas chromatography–electron ionization–mass spectrometry (GC-EI-MS) as well as liquid chromatography–electrospray ionization–high resolution/high accuracy tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS) method.
