Application
Biotin-4-Fluorescein has been used for the labeling of avidin to study the changes in protein binding capability after carbon negative-ion implantation into avidin.[1] It has been used to study the binding affinity of streptavidin towards biotin.[2]
Useful for quantitating biotin binding sites. This reagent binds to avidin more quickly than conventional fluorescein biotin.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Biotin-fluorescein is mainly used for the assay of biotin-interaction sites in avidin and streptavidin. Binding of biotin-4-fluorescein results in strong quenching, which is used for measuring the concentration of (strept)avidin.[3]
