General description

Collagenase Type I (Cls I) is a tissue dissociation enzyme produced by Clostridium histolyticum. It digests large, intact triple helices of native collagen fibers. Collagenases belong to the matrix metalloproteinase (MMPs) family that digest collagens in the extracellular matrix (ECM). Collagens serve to be a major component of the extracellular matrix and in mammals. These structural proteins are triple helixes composed of three collagen polypeptides with high tensile strength.
This product is identical to Biochrom GmbH part numbers C1-22 and C1-28. Enzyme blends of collagenase, clostripain, with tryptic and proteolytic activities from Clostridium histolyticum. This preparation is recommended for liver, lung, adipose, and adrenal tissue. Specific activity is 125 to 250 Mandl units per ml of powder substance.
