General description

A unit of the SRM contains five 10 mL sealed borosilicate glass ampoules, consisting of an acidified aqueous solution. The solution is prepared gravimetrically to contain a known mass fraction of chromium and includes nitric acid at a mass fraction of approximately 15%.
