Riboflavin 5′-phosphate (flavin mononucleotide (FMN)) is a vitamin B₁₂derivative, containing isoalloxazine ring system.

Application

Riboflavin 5′-phosphate sodium salt hydrate has been used:

as a photosensitizing agent to assess in vitro efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) on fungi
to evaluate its in vivo delivery in rat corneas
as a component in Vitamin and growth factor stock mix

Biochem/physiol Actions

Riboflavin 5′-phosphate (flavin mononucleotide (FMN)) acts as a coenzyme in intermediary metabolism. Phosphorylation of vitamin B₁₂ by flavokinase yields FMN.
