General description
The essential function of Hanks′ Balanced Salt solution is to maintain pH as well as osmotic balance. It also provides water and essential inorganic ions to cells.
Application
Hanks′ Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS) is designed for use with cells maintained in non-CO2 atmospheric conditions. For cell dissociation procedures, use HBSS Modified, which is formulated without calcium and magnesium salts.
