General description

The lipid DOPG has significant influence on multidrug transport. The DOPG membrane content can alter substrate transport of small multidrug transporters (SMR) proteins by an order of magnitude.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Remodeling of diacylphosphatidylglycerols by transesterification was studied in a phosphatidylglycerol-deficient microbe grown with exogenous DOPG.

Packaging

Bottomless glass bottle. Contents are inside inserted fused cone.

Membrane proteins are influenced by their surrounding lipids. We investigate the effect of bilayer composition on the membrane transport activity of two members of the small multidrug resistance family; the Escherichia coli transporter, EmrE and the Mycobacterium tuberculosis, TBsmr. In

The phosphatidylglycerol deficient DeltapgsA mutant of Synechocystis PCC6803 provided a unique experimental system for investigating in vivo retailoring of exogenously added dioleoylphosphatidylglycerol in phosphatidylglycerol-depleted cells. Gas chromatographic analysis of fatty acid composition suggested that diacyl-phosphatidylglycerols were synthesized from the artificial
