General description
An immunoglobulin has two heavy chain and two light chain connected by disulfide bond. It mainly helps in immune defense. It is a glycoprotein. IgG is a major class of immunoglobulin. In dogs four subclasses of IgG (IgG1 -IgG4) are present.
Dog IgGs are glycoprotein antibodies that regulate several immunological responses. Canine IgGs can be used as markers for detecting immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia, adverse food reactions and also for assessing the risk of L. infantum transmission in dogs.
Immunogen
IgG isolated from pooled normal dog serum
Application
Anti-Dog IgG (whole molecule)−Alkaline Phosphatase antibody produced in rabbit has been used in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and immunoblotting.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Anti-Dog IgG (whole molecule) antibody is specific for IgG in dogs when tested against normal dog serum and dog IgG by double-diffusion and immunoelectrophoretic assays prior to conjugation.
Immunoglobulin G (IgG) participates in hypersensitivity type II and type III.
Physical form
Solution in 0.05 M Tris, pH 8.0, containing 1% bovine serum albumin, 1 mM MgCl2 and 15 mM sodium azide

Canine allo- or autoantibodies are clinically important, but attachment of these immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies does not produce observable haemagglutination. Antibody to canine globulins is required to demonstrate sensitisation of red blood cells. Commercial reagents are available, but these often
