General description
Biotin is a carboxylase co-enzyme that regulates the metabolism of amino acids, glucose and fatty acids. This co-enzyme has been implicated in processes such as immune responses, cell division and fetal growth. Biotin may also be involved in the epigenetic modifications of chromatin.
Goat Anti-Biotin-Alkaline Phosphatase antibody is specific for biotin when tested against biotin-goat IgG, goat IgG, and KLH.
Goat Anti-Biotin-Alkaline Phosphatase antibody is specific for biotin when tested against biotin-goat IgG, goat IgG, and KLH.
Specificity and reactivity are determined by Ouchterlony Double Diffusion and immunoelectrophoresis versus the biotin-carrier protein complex. No reactivity is observed versus the carrier protein.

Biotin-KLH conjugate
Application
ELISA Assays using human spleen cells were performed using alkaline phosphatase-conjugated goat anti-biotin as the secondary antibody with incubation for 1.5 hours at room temperature. Purified IgG from K/BxN, BxSB or C57BL/6 mouse serum was analyzed by western blot using alkaline phosphatase-conjugated goat anti-biotin antibody as the secondary.
Goat Anti-Biotin-Alkaline Phosphatase antibody has been used for dot blot assays. The product can also be used for ELISA (1:30,000) and immunohistochemistry (1:50).
In some applications, localization of biotinylated probes with avidin produces high background levels. Anti-biotin reagents may be substituted for avidin to decrease non-specific binding.
May be substituted for avidin to decrease non-specific binding.
