Gene Information
human ... INSM1(3642)
General description
Insulinoma-associated 1 (INSM1/IA-1) is a zinc-finger transcription factor restrictedly expressed in pancreatic β-cells during early pancreas development. INSM1/IA-1 regulates NeruoD1/β2 and insulin gene expression during β-cell maturation. INSM1 transcription factor, an important player in early embryonic neurogenesis, contributes to endocrine and neuroendocrine cell differentiation.
Rabbit polyclonal anti-INSM1 antibody reacts with canine, bovine, human, mouse, rat, and zebrafish Insulinoma-associated 1 transcription factors.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide directed towards the middle region of human INSM1
Application
Rabbit Anti-INSM1 antibody can be used for western blot assays at a concentration of 1.25μg/ml. The antibody can also be used for IHC at 4-8μg/ml using paraffin-embedded tissues.
Rabbit polyclonal anti-INSM1 antibody is used to tag Insulinoma-associated 1 for detection and quantitation by immunocytochemical and immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to determine the presence and roles of Insulinoma-associated 1 in endocrine and neuroendocrine cell differentiation.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Insulinoma-associated 1 (INSM1) gene is intronless and encodes a protein containing both a zinc finger DNA-binding domain and a putative prohormone domain. This gene is a sensitive marker for neuroendocrine differentiation of human lung tumors.
Physical form
Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.
Other Notes
Synthetic peptide located within the following region: PAAALRPPGKRPPPPTAAEPPAKAVKAPGAKKPKAIRKLHFEDEVTTSPV

Zinc-finger transcription factors are DNA-binding proteins that are implicated in many diverse biological functions. INSM1 (formerly IA-1) contains five zinc-finger motifs and functions as a transcription factor. INSM1 protein structure is highly conserved in homologues of different species. It is

INSM1/IA-1 (insulinoma-associated 1) is a developmentally regulated zinc-finger transcription factor, exclusively expressed in the foetal pancreas and nervous system, and in tumours of neuroendocrine origin. We have identified an INSM1 binding site in the neuroD/beta2 promoter and demonstrated transcriptional repressor
