Gene Information
human ... MEOX2(4223)
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide directed towards the C terminal region of human MEOX2
Biochem/physiol Actions
MEOX2 is a transcription regulator that is essential for limb myogenesis in vertebrates. It regulates the activity of NF-κB and inhibits the activation of vascular endothelial cells in response to hypoxia and proangiogenic factors. MEOX1 and 2 regulate the activity cyclin dependent kinase inhibitors p21(CIP1/WAF1) and p16(INK4a) and induce cell cycle arrest in endothelial cells.
Physical form
Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.
Other Notes
Synthetic peptide located within the following region: REKELVNVKKGTLLPSELSGIGAATLQQTGDSIANEDSHDSDHSSEHAHL

We have examined the expression pattern of the avian Meox1 homeobox gene during early development and up to late limb bud stages. Its expression pattern indicates that it is involved in somite specification and differentiation. The domains of expression are

Tumours secrete proangiogenic factors to induce the ingrowth of blood vessels, the end targets of which are vascular endothelial cells (ECs). The MEOX2 homeoprotein inhibits nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB) signalling and EC activation in response to serum and proangiogenic factors. We

Senescence, the state of permanent cell cycle arrest, has been associated with endothelial cell dysfunction and atherosclerosis. The cyclin dependent kinase inhibitors p21(CIP1/WAF1) and p16(INK4a) govern the G(1)/S cell cycle checkpoint and are essential for determining whether a cell enters
