General description
Melanocyte Growth Medium SupplementMix (basal medium sold separately)
To form a complete medium, it should be combined with the basal medium: C-24210
To form a complete medium, it should be combined with the basal medium: C-24210
Application
Melanocyte Growth Medium is a serum-free, PMA (Phorbol Myristate Acetate)-containing Medium and has been developed for the in vitro cultivation of juvenile melanocytes. Since PMA is a tumor promoting mitogen, it may interfere with some experimental approaches. In these cases, we recommend using the PMA-free Melanocyte Growth Medium M2 (C-24300). The Melanocyte Growth Medium is optimized for primary human cells, but can also be used for equine, porcine, murine, and rat melanocytes.Recommended for:Normal Human Epidermal Melanocytes (NHEM), juvenile foreskin
Preparation Note

Final supplement concentrations after addition to the basal medium:Bovine Pituitary Extract: 0.004 ml / mlBasic Fibroblast Growth Factor (recombinant human): 1 ng / mlInsulin (recombinant human): 5 µg / mlHydrocortisone: 0.5 µg / mlPhorbol Myristate Acetate: 10 ng / ml
Store the SupplementMix at -20°C in the dark immediately after arrival. If stored properly, it is stable until the expiry date stated on the label. After adding the supplements to the Basal Medium, the shelf life of the complete medium is 6 weeks at 4 to 8°C. Do not freeze the complete medium. For use, pre-warm only an aliquot of the complete medium and keep the remaining medium refrigerated at 4 to 8°C.
Analysis Note
All lots of PromoCell Melanocyte Growth Medium are subjected to comprehensive quality control tests using primary human melanocytes. Each lot is checked for growth promoting activity, adherence rate, and typical morphology of the tested melanocytes. Approved in-house lots of media are used as a reference. In addition, all lots of media have been tested for the absence of microbial contaminants (fungi, bacteria, mycoplasma).
