Biochem/physiol Actions

The soluble carboxyl-terminal moiety of κ-casein. This antithrombotic peptide binds to glycoprotein GPIb in the platelet membrane, thus inhibiting platelet aggregation by blocking the binding of von Willebrand factor.

Preparation Note

Prepared by a modification of the method of Alais and Jolles.

Application

  • Bioactive Peptide in Dairy Research: Investigation into the effects of bovine caseinoglycopeptide on CD4+ T cells showcased its potential to modulate immune responses, highlighting its application in nutrition and functional food development (Otani et al., 1996).

The sites of mucin-type O-glycosylation are largely unpredictable, making structural analysis by mass spectrometry (MS) indispensible. On the peptide level, a site localization and characterization of O-linked glycans in situ using tandem MS with electron-transfer dissociation or matrix-assisted laser desorption
