MKL-1 is positive for CM2B4/MCV T AE1/AE2, CK20, EMA, CAM5.2, NSE and TTF-1. MKL-1 is negative for CK7, chromagen, synaptophysin, neurofilament, LCA, vimentin and CD99.

Human neuroendocrine skin carcinoma
MKL-1 was established from a nodal metastasis in a 26-year-old Caucasian male patient. MKL-1 cells contain a Merkel cell polyomavirus integrated into the genome. MKL-1 cells cause tumour formation at 4-6 weeks at subcutaneous sites in athymic male nude mice (BALB/c nu/nu).
