Application
Nthy-ori 3-1 human cell Line has been used for transfection and virus studies. It is also used for the study of control and growth in human thyroid. The cell line has been used for microRNA (miRNA) expression profiling.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Human thyroid follicular epithelial
Normal human primary thyroid follicular epithelial cells were transfected with a plasmid containing an origin-defective SV40 genome (SV-ori) to immortalise them. SV40 DNA was able to immortalise normal thyroid epithelial cells with the retention of several different functions.
Preparation Note
RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
