Application

Virus studies: feline and canine viruses

Biochem/physiol Actions

Derived from trypsinised uterine tissue of an adult female Racoon. Pl.1Ut was developed for studies of feline and canine viruses since the Racoon is one of the few animals which is susceptible to both.

Preparation Note

EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:3 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 by washing 3 times with 0.255 trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C. Finite lifespan; maximum 90 passages expected. Growth rate is very slow.
