General description
Dicamba (3,6-dichloro-2-methoxybenzoic acid) is an organochlorine compound, with plant growth auxin characteristics.
Application
Dicamba has been used:
- as an auxin to maintain wheat embryos post pollination
- as a Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplement to culture embryos
- as an auxin in induction medium to induce somatic embryogenesis in barely tissue culture
Biochem/physiol Actions
Dicamba is a broad leaf growth regulator that mimics plant growth auxins. Dicamba is used as a herbicide and is effective against glyphosate-resistant (GR) giant ragweed.
