General description
Endothelial Cell Growth Supplement (ECGS) is a BioReagent‑grade extract derived from bovine pituitary glands and contains growth‑promoting factors that support the growth and maintenance of vascular endothelial cells of mammalian origin. The supplement is prepared using a modified published method and supplied as a lyophilized powder from a sterile NaCl solution containing streptomycin sulfate. ECGS is endotoxin tested and designed for use in in vitro mammalian cell culture research.
Application
Endothelial Cell Growth Supplement (ECGS) from bovine pituitary is commonly used as a supplement to basal culture media for endothelial cell research applications, including:
- RPMI‑1640 medium for mammalian endothelial cell culture
- Medium 199 for endothelial cell growth and maintenance
- DMEM:Ham’s F‑12 medium for endothelial cell culture
- IMDM for human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) culture
- Supplementation of media in hybridoma fusion and growth studies
Biochem/physiol Actions
Endothelial Cell Growth Supplement (ECGS) provides a complex mixture of biologically derived growth‑promoting factors that support endothelial cell growth, attachment, and maintenance. ECGS has also been reported as a supportive media supplement in hybridoma cell fusion and growth workflows for monoclonal antibody research applications.
