General description
Fluoroshield is an aqueous mounting medium for preserving fluorescence of tissue and cell smears. This unique formula not only enables prolonged fluorescence, but also prevents rapid photobleaching (fading) of fluorochromes including FITC, Texas Red®, AMCA, Cy®, Cy3™, Cy5, Alexa Fluor™ 488, Alexa Fluor™ 594, Green fluorescent protein (GFP), tetramethylrhodamine, R-phycoerythrin (R-PE), phycocyanin (PC), and allophycocyanin (APC).
Application
Fluoroshield™ has been used:
- as a mounting medium for cultured megakaryocytes and immunostained platelets for confocal microscopy studies
- as a mounting medium for 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) stained heart sections for immunofluorescence studies
- to preserve fluorescence of C6 cell smears
Other Notes
Fluoroshield is an aqueous-based mounting medium comparable to Gel Mount™.

Combining endurance training with resistance training (RT) may attenuate skeletal muscle hypertrophic adaptation versus RT alone; however, the underlying mechanisms are unclear. We investigated changes in markers of ribosome biogenesis, a process linked with skeletal muscle hypertrophy, following concurrent training

It has previously been shown that skeletal myotubes express nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and produce and release NO signals. NOS is also part of agrin-induced acetylcholine receptor aggregations on myotubes. As nerve-muscle interactions underlie reciprocal signaling mechanisms, we hypothesized that
