General description
HiTrap™ Protein L columns are prepacked with Capto™ L affinity chromatography resin for purification of antibody fragments containing the kappa light chain. This resin combines a rigid, high-flow agarose matrix with the immunoglobulin-binding recombinant protein L ligand, which has a strong affinity to the variable region of antibody kappa light chains.
Application
Affinity chromatoghraphy; capture of antibodies and antibody fragments such as Fab fragments, scFv, and Dabs.
Features and Benefits
- Suitable for the capture of a wide range of antibody fragments such as antigen-binding fragments (Fabs), domain antibodies (dAbs), and single-chain variable fragments (scFvs).
- Enables a platform approach to antibody fragment purification.
- High binding capacity, low ligand leakage, and selectivity for a broad range of antibody fragments reduces process time and amount of resin.
- Convenient for process development, as well as small-scale purification.
- HiTrap™ format enables easy connection to a syringe, peristaltic pump, or chromatography system such as an ÄKTA™ system.

Alveolar (AE) and cystic echinococcosis (CE) are severe parasitic zoonoses caused by the larval stages of Echinococcus multilocularis and E. granulosus sensu lato, respectively. A panel of 7 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) was selected against major diagnostic epitopes of both species.
