General description

Recombinant Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF / FGF‑7) is supplied as a purified protein for use in mammalian cell culture research involving epithelial cell growth and differentiation studies in vitro.

Application

KGF has been used in mammalian cell culture research applications involving epithelial and keratinocyte‑related in vitro model systems.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Keratinocyte Growth Factor (FGF‑7) mediates cellular responses through fibroblast growth factor receptor pathways. KGF stimulates proliferation and differentiation of keratinocytes and other cells in the epithelium. It induces chemotaxis of microvascular endothelial cells and neovascularization of cornea. It stimulates the hyaluronic acid synthesis in proliferating and migrating basal cells. KGF contributes to the survival of cells under stress conditions.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.5 mg bovine serum albumin.
