General description
Methyl esterification of fatty acids is commonly done prior to gas chromatography analysis to prevent peak tailing and to increase sample volatility. However, the conventional esterification procedure requires specialized equipment and high technical skill. By using the Fatty Acid Methylation kit that employs a new reaction technique, followed by the fatty acid methyl ester purification kit (MAK225), fatty acid methyl esterification is greatly simplified.
Application
Suitable for the methyl esterification of fatty acids (glycerolipids such as triglycerides, phospholipids, glycolipids, lecithin and sterol esters). Samples include blood, yeast, liver, cooking oil, soybean powder, fish oil, etc.
Biochem/physiol Actions
The Fatty Acid Methylation Kit followed by the Fatty Acid Methyl Ester Purification Kit (Catalog Number MAK225) employs a proprietary reaction technique. Using these kits, the fatty acid methyl esterification/purification process is greatly simplified.

Diatom microalgae have great industrial potential as next-generation sources of biomaterials and biofuels. Effective scale-up of their production can be pursued by enhancing the efficiency of their photosynthetic process in a way that increases the solar-to-biomass conversion yield. A proof-of-concept
