General description

Pyruvate Dehydrogenase (PDH) is a mitochondrial enzyme which has an important role in carbohydrate metabolism. Combining with dihydrolipoyl transacetylase (E2) and dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase (E3), PDH (E1) forms a well-characterized enzyme complex (PDC). In the presence of NAD+ and CoA, PDH catalyzes the conversion of pyruvate into Acetyl-CoA and CO2. Thus, PDH links the glycolysis metabolic pathway (cytoplasm) to the citric acid cycle (mitochondria). The Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Activity Assay Kit provides a sensitive, simple, fast, direct and convenient way for the detection of PDH activity in various samples, based on a colorimetric method. The amount of the colorimetric (450 nm) product is proportional to the enzymatic activity present in the sample. The kit can detect PDH activity that is lower than 0.1 mU, in a variety of samples.

Application

Pyruvate Dehydrogenase (PDH) Activity Assay Kit has been used in the colorimetric measurement of PDH Activity in biological samples.
Suitable for measuring PDH Activity in adherent or suspension cells, from an animal or plant source.
