General description
Naphthol AS-BI (7-Bromo-3-hydroxy-2-naphtho-o-anisidine) is a substituted naphthol.
Substrate for the histochemical demonstration of acid and alkaline phosphatase.
Application
Naphthol AS-BI phosphate disodium salt hydrate is suitable to use:
- in tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) staining to detect osteoclast activity
- as a component in Tris-HCl in staining cells to measure alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity
- to perform alkaline phosphatase reaction
Biochem/physiol Actions
Naphthol AS-BI (7-Bromo-3-hydroxy-2-naphtho-o-anisidine) can be used as a substrate to determine alkaline and acid phosphatase. It is also used to determine the activity of acid phosphatase in single cells.
