as succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) inhibitor for LUHMES neurons and cell lines

Biochem/physiol Actions

Administering 3-nitropropionic acid (3-NP) to the inner ear can stimulate sensorineural hearing loss. It serves as an irreversible inhibitor of mitochondrial complex II.

Excitotoxin shown to cause brain lesions similar to those of Huntington′s disease.
