Biochem/physiol Actions
Pro-platelet basic protein (PPBP)/chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 7 (CXCL7) is a platelet-derived growth factor. It acts as an effective chemoattractant and neutrophil activator. CXCL7 interacts with its receptor C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 1/2 to promote tumor angiogenesis and tumor cell migration. Overexpression of the gene has been observed in peripheral blood cells of patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Thus, it might be considered as a potent diagnostic marker for RCC.
