General description
The UMOD ELISA kit provides for the Quantitative measurement of Uromodulin in Cell Culture Supernatants, Plasma and Serum.
Uromodulin also known as Tamm-Horsfall protein (THP) is a glycoprotein localized in the thick ascending limb (TAL) of the Henle loop in the kidney. It is the most abundant protein excreted in the urine. Uromodulin plays a role in preventing urinary tract infections and kidney stones. It aids in immunomodulation and regulation of ion transport in TAL. Uromodulin acts as an inverse biomarker in the early detection of chronic kidney disorders.
Application
For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Uromodulin (also known as Tamm-Horsfall protein) is exclusively produced in the kidney and is the most abundant protein in normal urine. The function of uromodulin remains elusive, but the available data suggest that this protein might regulate salt transport, protect

High serum concentrations of kidney-derived protein uromodulin [Tamm-Horsfall protein (THP)] have recently been shown to be independently associated with low mortality in both older adults and cardiac patients, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Here, we show that THP inhibits
